Music and chant have been an integral, motivating part of the yogic journey since its ancient beginnings, helping the practitioner to focus energy and release tension. Planet Yoga, a two-CD set of Indian chants songs and ambient creates the perfect environment for the practice of yoga, exercise, contemplation and relaxation.
The first CD in the Planet Yoga set is designed as an accompaniment to physical yoga and exercise. It features the most renowned proponents of the Bhakti or devotional yoga genre along side new up and coming performers. Included are Krishna Das, the guiding force of the movement (who graces the collection with the previously unreleased track "Prayer To Rudra"), Jai Uttal, the conceptual leader in the development of East/West music fusion and Bhagavan Das, a western Sadhu (mendicant or monastic), author and singer (whose Mike D produced album Now! is scheduled for a June release on Karuna Music). There are also tracks from a new wave of chant artists such as long time Krishna Das Kirtan Posse member Wah!, Dave Stringer (joined in a soulful duet by Aazam Ali of the group Vas), the duo Rasa and German chanteuse Deva Premal.
The second CD in the collection is designed to enhance relaxation and meditative practices by presenting an ambient soundscape that creates a space that engenders a vibration of peace.
